Evaluation of Grade 9 Teaching

To teach the grade 9 boys was a great expereince and challenged the how quick we could think. I believe that teachers should get loads of credit for doing what they do because it is quite frightening standing infront of 20 odd students and knowing that what you say can affct their future and make them better people. I enjoyed teaching and think that it is a great duty to up hold because you need to know what you are doing, I mean you can't go up and give a slap dash leason. The expereince was great and I hope that I can do this again.

Book Review

MY GRANDPA's STORY
Author: Zafar Nathie
Reviewed By: Zafar Nathie

The book is very inspiring and explains the treacherous times of apartheid. The author tells us the story of apartheid through the life of Sipho Mokoena, the way he suffered and what little he did for this country that helped in a big way. In this book we came about the laws of apartheid which were only benefiting to whites at that time. The laws which I came across are as follows:

1. Group Areas Act
2. Bantu Education Act
3. Prohibition of Mixed Marriages Act
4. Reservation of Separate Amenities Act

This book is a great book for the youth of today to show them how challenging life can be and as well so that they know the history of this country. Elderly people can also read this book to further their knowledge of apartheid. In the book we show what Nelson Mandela did for this country and we explain what the TRC is. This book is excellent example of the life of how a person in the time of apartheid felt and was treated.

REFLECTIVE ESSAY

A DEEP CONCERN FOR YOUTH

Concern is a quality of importance, it may be regarded to family, friends and the community which one is from or anything that worries the mind. I quote from the Oxford dictionary, something that is important to or affect somebody. In my opinion I regard concern of today’s time and era to the youth and where or what they see themselves doing for humanity and what they will be in the future.

I am relating an experience of a concerned man by the name of Inaayat Ismail, whose concern arose by what was happening in the world at the time of his youth. As the events and happenings grew more and more, his concern about these happenings as well also grew more and more. He decided to do something with his youth and became part of the ANC. One of the incidents in his life was going to Sebokeng and Sharpville for meetings and he had seen the police come in and attack and defenses people were killed. When he saw that type of death taking place in front of his eyes, it was not mere death like you see on television which doesn’t even touch the heart, but when you see someone who is mowed down in front of you. It really puts the impression on your heart that these people don’t have any human feelings and it brings up aggression inside you.

The concern that I have derived from his experience is for our youth who are trapped watching television. If the youth who are been brought up watching violent movies and can take the sight of murder likely, then we should be concerned because they might think that they can kill and nothing will happen.

In my opinion we should be concerned about this country as well. We have come far by overcoming challenges but apartheid still lives within us because people still believe that black is dirty and bad and white is clean and pure so, black and white people still don’t mix and have a hatred for each other.

Concern is something that everyone has and everyone should have, but it depends on what or about what you are concerned of. I am concerned about the youth of today because they are becoming worse and worse day by day. In Islam concern should be on everything, your salaah, your life, your family and a parent always has concern about his or her child. The parent wants to know where the child is and what the child is doing, but the child is hiding all the bad he does. Children need to start sowing the seeds of their future and taking responsibility and be role models to those who are younger then them.

I conclude by saying that concern should be there for the youth of today because remember they are going to be the leaders of tomorrow and for the leaders of today who are like animals for pride and glory.
